how it all started
Our Story, Our Purpose, Our Mission.
our story
Sunflower Community Supports was founded by an experienced Local Area Coordinator (LAC), Support Coordinator and registered counsellor who saw firsthand how difficult it could be for families to find support that felt reliable, personal and genuinely caring.
With a degree in psychology and around eight years of experience within the disability sector, our founder began her journey in Support Work, before moving into roles as an LAC and Support Coordinator. But her connection to the disability community began long before her professional career.
Having grown up around people with disability and raising children with disability herself, she understands that navigating supports isn't simply about services, funding and appointments — it's about people, families and everyday life.
That experience, both personal and professional, became the heart behind Sunflower Community Supports.
For the past five years, we have continued to grow alongside the people and communities we support.

Our mission is simple: to provide support that we would be comfortable trusting with our own families.

We help participants grow in a safe and supportive environment — whether that's developing communication through speech therapy, improving daily living with occupational therapy, or creating meaningful routines through day programs and community participation.
Every program is tailored to the individual, with the right balance of care, consistency and creativity to support meaningful goals. Our focus is always on what matters most — you.
